Deepthroat says: Find “The Voices” to find the brains behind the robocalls

The fan is spinning, covered in proverbial excrement, and Tories of all ranks are running for the hills, professing ignorance of blatant attempts to deprive Canadians of their right to vote in the last election through misleading robocalls to hundreds – perhaps thousands – of Liberal and NDP supporters to deceive them.

On Friday, Postmedia News and the Ottawa Citizen reported to find evidence of a “systematic voter-suppression campaign” against Liberals in tight ridings during last May’s federal election.

Automated messages reportedly told voters that their polling stations had been changed or directed them to non-existent stations.

The campaign also allegedly consisted of harassing phone calls targeting Liberal voters in 14 ridings — the majority of which were in southern Ontario.

Liberal supporters say the calls usually came late at night or early in the morning from people claiming to represent the local Liberal candidate.

Calls also were placed to voters with Jewish-sounding names during the Saturday Sabbath and in one riding with a South Asian candidate, voters received phone calls from someone who appeared to be imitating a Pakistani accent.

Those who received the calls say they got them repeatedly and that the person on the other line spoke to them rudely.

This smacks of the coverup we saw in the Watergate crisis that brought down the nefarious Richard (I am not a crook) Nixon.

And, like the Watergate scandal, one of the keys to unraveling it is to find the people who made the calling messages. The voices on the phone, in French and English. There must be recordings of the calls somewhere – many supporters probably have them on their voicemail systems.

So let’s get those Voices out into the public, have them played on the TV and on radio, with requests for people to phone in if they recognize them.

And let’s have the voices analyzed – there are ways to categorize the rhythms and speech patterns of speakers in ways which allow two recordings to be compared to see if the same speaker is involved.

And let’s compare those speech patterns to the voices of people who do this for a living, perhaps starting with other broadcasts made by clients of Rack9.

Then let’s find out the possible Voices and ask them a few questions.

Questions like these:
·        Who  hired them?
·        Where did they work?
·        Who paid them?
·        Where did they make the recordings they made?
·        Who wrote the scripts for them to read?
·        Can they identify the people who hired them and worked with them from photos of suspects?
T
This trail – the trail of the Voices – should help clarify whether the whole operation was carried out from start to finish by just one person, who paid everything in cash and left no fingerprints behind.

  1. And to think it took nearly 6 years for the In and Out Scandal that they also said they never did, after much of our money being spent on expensive Lawyers to say it entailed only 2 Senators . I guess they will try their sly Lawyers again, being as you and I pay for them, they will do anything to prove the are pure as thedriven snow.If I were in a place that this happened, I would keep on it..day after day until a by-election comes

  3. Let's hope not, Anon. And let's see if Canada has its own Woodstein duo to hunt down this delicious scandal - my guess is this will be the downfall of the Harper Tories if the trail leads back to them. Suppressing votes is a dreadful anti-democratic move, fit only in totalitarian and despotic systems.

    Not in Canada.
